 Dr. John Calicchia is a licensed psychologist with over 30 years of expertise in psychological testing and assessment. As a practice Founder and Head of BETR Care, he leads the clinical vision for integrating assessments into wellness journeys. Dr. Calicchia completed his pre-doctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at McLean Hosp

 Dr. John Calicchia is a licensed psychologist with over 30 years of expertise in psychological testing and assessment. Dr. Calicchia completed his pre-doctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School, where he later served as a Child and Adolescent Psychologist and Clinical Fellow.


With a career spanning academia, private practice, and hospital settings, he is dedicated to empowering individuals with clear, actionable insights and making assessments accessible and transformative for all.

Dr. Sam Moncata is a licensed psychologist with over 30 years of experience in psychological assessment and clinical services across the lifespan. He earned his Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Hartford and completed both pre- and post-doctoral training at McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School.


Dr. Moncata specializes 

Dr. Sam Moncata is a licensed psychologist with over 30 years of experience in psychological assessment and clinical services across the lifespan. He earned his Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Hartford and completed both pre- and post-doctoral training at McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School.


Dr. Moncata specializes in developmental, learning, and emotional concerns, with a deep commitment to helping individuals understand their strengths and challenges. He directs the Center for Lifespan Development in Waban, MA, and teaches in the Clinical Psychology doctoral program at William James College, where he is an Associate Professor and core faculty member.


As part of the BETR team, Dr. Moncata is proud to deliver accessible, high-quality assessments that support clarity, insight, and action on each client’s unique path to wellness.

She earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She also completed her predoctoral residency and postdoctoral fellowships in the Clinical Neuropsychology Specialty Program at

Dr. Janessa Carvalho is a licensed psychologist with specialized training in psychological and neuropsychological assessment. She earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She also completed her predoctoral residency and postdoctoral fellowships in the Clinical Neuropsychology Specialty Program at Brown University Warren Alpert Medical School.


She works with adults to explore concerns related to changes or concerns about attention, learning, memory, behavior, and/or mood. Her approach to testing is collaborative and compassionate—designed to help clients feel understood while providing clear, actionable insights.


As part of the BETR team, Dr. Carvalho is proud to offer thoughtful, high-quality assessments that are accessible and centered on each client’s unique wellness journey. Outside of her clinical work, she enjoys doing anything outdoors, reading, and spending time with her family.

Dr. Kent Wilson is a licensed psychologist with expertise in neuropsychological and psychological assessment. He earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Virginia, followed by a predoctoral internship at Boston Children’s Hospital and a postdoctoral fellowship in assessment at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Dr. Kent Wilson is a licensed psychologist with expertise in neuropsychological and psychological assessment. He earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Virginia, followed by a predoctoral internship at Boston Children’s Hospital and a postdoctoral fellowship in assessment at Massachusetts General Hospital.


He specializes in working with children and adolescents to assess attention, learning, autism spectrum symptoms, and emotional or behavioral concerns. His approach is strengths-based and practical—focused on helping families gain clarity and access the right supports.  He is the co-editor and contributing author of The Massachusetts General Guide to Learning Disabilities. 


As part of the BETR team, Dr. Wilson is committed to increasing access to timely, high-quality evaluations that empower clients. Outside of clinical work, he enjoys exploring the outdoors, reading, and spending time with his family.

Dr. Marie Moncata is a psychologist with advanced training in psychological and neuropsychological assessment. She specializes in learning differences, child and adolescent mental health, and neurodevelopmental conditions. Dr. Moncata works with individuals across the lifespan to evaluate concerns related to attention, memory, learning, and emotional functioning. Her warm, collaborative approach ensures clients feel understood while delivering practical, actionable insights.


As part of the BETR team, Dr. Moncata is passionate about expanding access to high-quality psychological testing and connecting clients with the right resources for growth and support.


She earned her BA from the College of the Holy Cross and both her MA and PsyD from William James College, with a concentration in Children and Families of Adversity and Resilience. Her training includes placements at McLean Hospital, MGB, Wayland Public Schools, and Rutgers Behavioral Health Care.

Catherine recently completed her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology at the Wright Institute and brings deep experience working with children and families, including assessment and therapy roles at Through the Looking Glass and the Autism Center of Northern California’s Neurodevelopmental Assessment Clinic.    Colleagues and supervisors highlight her playful, collaborative style, skill with autism-focused, family-centered care, and steady effectiveness—even in complex cases.   We can’t wait for our clients to benefit from her compassion, clinical rigor, and strengths-based approach.

Madison Barrack is BETR’s Director of Practice Operations. While training to become a licensed practitioner, Madison focuses on connecting clients with the right services—quickly, clearly, and cost-effectively.  She is currently a graduate student at New York University, pursuing her M.A. in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness.

Madison's academic and professional interests center on developmental psychology—particularly how experiences across the lifespan shape each individual’s growth, identity, and strengths.


Madison is drawn to neuropsychology because it looks at the whole person. She values the opportunity to help individuals and families gain deeper insight into themselves and to create clear, supportive paths toward well-being.


Outside of work and school, Madison enjoys Pilates, traveling whenever she can, and spending quality time with family.

 Tom Martin is a Co-Founder of BETR and Head of BETR's Practice Operations. With over a decade in consulting and industry—mainly working at the global management consulting firm, McKinsey & Company—Tom specializes in building high-performing systems for practice operations, strategy, and growth.  He earned his MBA from the Tuck School of 

 Tom Martin is a Co-Founder of BETR and Head of BETR's Practice Operations. With over a decade in consulting and industry—mainly working at the global management consulting firm, McKinsey & Company—Tom specializes in building high-performing systems for practice operations, strategy, and growth.  He earned his MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, where he helped launch the Tuck Social Venture Fund. 


Tom’s connection to psychological testing is deeply personal, as a testing client himself, and as the father of three young children. He’s committed to making assessments accessible, timely, and actionable—so families and clinicians get clear answers and see path forward towards the outcomes they desire. 


When he’s not working, you’ll find him with his family, coaching youth sports, or spending time outdoors fishing and skiing.
